Naprosyn (Naproxen) is a propionic acid derivative Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug (NSAID) used to relieve pain and swelling (inflammation).
It is used for treatment of 1) rheumatic disorders: 0.5-1gram in a single or two divided doses. 2) Juvenile idiopathic arthritis: 10mg/kg daily in two divided doses. 3) Dysmenorrhoea and musculoskeletal disorders: 500mg every 8 hours. 4) Treatment of acute gout: 750mg followed by 250mg every 8 hourly. 5) Acute migrane attacks: 750mg at onset followed by 250/500mg daily.
It is not to be given in aspirin and NSAID allergy and in pregnancy (3rd trimester)
Possible side effects can be edema, palpitation, dizziness, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, stomatitis etc.
